CATEGORIES

Solos, pas de deux and groups may compete in the following dance categories:
Classical Dance: professional and nonprofessional schools for SOLO, DUO (also PAS DE DEUX), TRIO, QUARTET, GROUP Modern/Contemporary/Jazz Dance: professional and nonprofessional schools for SOLO, DUO, TRIO, QUARTET, GROUP;

Explanation of abbreviations for categories
CL(AGE)P-Classical Dance professional
CL(AGE)NP-Classical Dance nonprofessional
M(AGE)P-Modern/Contemporary/Jazz Dance professional
M(AGE)NP-Modern/Contemporary/Jazz Dance nonprofessional

Age categories:
AGE 1: from 8-10 years old
AGE 2: from 11-13 years old
AGE 3: from 14-17 years old
AGE 4: from 18 and older (the maximum age in this category is 22)

Example:
- A solo nonprofessional competitor in the category “CLASSICAL DANCE”, AGE 3, would have to fill in the following abbreviation in his application form: CL3NPsolo;
- A duo nonprofessional competitor in the category “CLASSICAL DANCE”, AGE 3, would have to fill in the following abbreviation in his application form: CL3NPduo;
- A group nonprofessional competitor in the category “CLASSICAL DANCE”, AGE 3, would have to fill in the following abbreviation in his application form: CL3NPgroup.
The same is for the trio and quartet (CL3NPtrio, CL3NPquartet).
Age is determined as of October 1st of the Competition Year.

Explanation for the type of school
PROFESSIONAL” refers to competitors who have a dance program of more than 8 hours/week.
NONPROFESSIONAL” refers to competitors who have a dance program of less than 8 hours/week.
